Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the Influence of primer coat on Solid Mk Density of metalized sheets printed with dry toner based Digital Printing. The results showed that there is high impact of primer coat on solid ink density of metalized sheets printed with dry toner based Digital Printing process. The solid ink density of metalized boards printed with dry toner based digital printing process was found slight higher in primer coated boards then the solid ink density of non primer coated boards.

Abstract

Printing is one of the major concerns for packages and it gives final impression to the package. The printing industry faces pressures to increase efficiency and reduce cost due to global over capacity and rising costs of raw material. Most of the packages are printed, so that brand identification and product differentiation cane be resulted in the market place. It is the age of packaging and better printed package helps to attract new consumers in addition to retaining the existing customers. Over the years, product manufacturers are trying hard to push their product, so that revenue can be generated for future growth and development. In the world of cut throat competition, one has to adopt innovative ideas to reduce cost of production and this extra savings can be utilized for other purposes, like reducing the selling price of the product or adding some additional features with the same selling price. Sheet fed offset printing process is one of the major printing techniques for packaging printing and make ready is one the areas which needs special care and attention for final cost savings. This review paper is intended to find out some of the major contributors to the make ready time and necessary steps that can be used for minimizing these unproductive activities, so that the package printing cost can be reduced. At the same time increased legislative and customer demands to lower the environmental impact of industry activities has created a need for printers activities has created a need for printers to better their sustainable practices. Increasing resources efficiency and reducing waste has therefore become an important aspect to consider for printers wanting to maintain their market position in an increasingly competitive environment.

Abstract

The demand of packaging sector is growing rapidly over a period of time. Printing on flexible plastic substrates is the main substrates due to its natural nature. Along with its demand, the wastages are also main problem and its control is very important. The wastages may be in two forms i.e. Liquid wastages or solid wastages. The solid wastages play an effective role in affecting the productivity of organization. The wastages during the printing production from infeed unit to outfeed unit, including all stages are the main issue in all printing process and its finding at all stages is very important to control the wastages and improving productions. Analyzing the solid wastages at different stages guide the organization to minimize the wastages and indicates the maximum and minimum wastages during production. This research paper presents the solid wastages at different stages likes printing, inspection, lamination, slitting and trimming, during printing and machine-off operation and hence indicates at which stages the maximum wastages is occurring that can be minimized in future.

Abstract

UV Flexo inks are becoming increasingly popular in flexible packaging .The ever-increasing improvements in UV Flexo inks such as print quality; low ink maintenance requirements, no solvents, high press stability, and in-line finishing have all contributed to converters' decisions to switch to UV Flexo system. Recently, new UV flexo ink systems have improved efficiency and production. Hence, many substrates are coated with a primer to perform as adhesion promoter Nevertheless, this additional coating are not always successful, increase cost to the convertor and typically do not mitigate the migrating effect of lubricating additives found within certain flexible packaging films. This paper will detail, in the absence of adhesion promoters, the effects of corona, flame or atmospheric plasma surface treatments on the adhesion of UV flexo inks to flexible packaging films Flexo printing first came onto the market in the 1960's and began as a relatively simple and low-tech printing method and today it has become a state-of-the-art printing method, requiring high-tech printing inks to achieve high-quality printing results UV flexographic ink system that provides excellent light fastness on a wide range of plastic materials for outdoor use. UV curable system has specially designed for application in Flexo Printing process.

Abstract

Printing and Packaging industry utilizes paper and paper boards to prepare packages for various products. The recycled fiber is a secondary raw material for producing paper and paper boards to be utilized in packaging. The fibers get degraded in each cycle of recycling and after 4-6 cycles of recycling the fibers get too short to make a paper Manufacturing of paper itself emits a lot of VOC and then printing of paper with offset lithography, gravure and flexography adds up in the emission. Land filling of organic material has no future, most organic material requires burning of material to reduce its volume. This uses heat value and contributes to self supporting incineration.

Abstract

Printing Technology has been a great invention in the history of mankind. Printing has grown exponentially over the period of time since its invention as it is the most powerful method of mass-communication and it is still considered as a viable and trusted tool of disseminating ideas and information in a country like India rather the digitalization is at its helm. The main objective of this research paper is to analyze the different futuristic trends and techniques used in printing industry. During research, a survey on 5 large scales, 8 medium scales and 12 small scale industries was taken into consideration.These printing industries were surveyed to find out the techniques used by them presently and their futuristic plan to incorporate the latest techniques available in the market in their prepress and press sections using an extensively framed questionnaire.
